Our story
HFS began as an executive HR advisory practice for early-stage founders who needed senior-level judgment without a full-time HR executive on payroll. As clients scaled, the same need kept surfacing on the staffing side — so the staffing and workforce solutions engine was built to sit alongside advisory, not replace it.
Paycom now sits underneath both engines as the workforce system of record — one place candidates, employees, and assignments live, regardless of which engine brought them in.
Rachael Pollard brings executive HR, operations, organizational leadership, and workforce experience across growth companies and complex operating environments. She founded HR For StartUps to give organizations access to the kind of leadership judgment, infrastructure, and workforce capability traditionally built inside much larger companies.
Today, she leads both HFS engines — Executive Leadership & Advisory and Staffing & Workforce Solutions — with a leadership-first philosophy grounded in practical execution, human judgment, and the belief that every organization should be left better than it was found.
Her background sits deliberately outside the traditional HR-consultant lane: it crosses leadership, operations, workforce strategy, organizational infrastructure, talent, and business growth — which is why HFS was built as two connected engines rather than a single advisory practice.
